ICTI Inaugurates Pan-African Ethical Trade Corridor in Douala to Boost Intra-Continental Commerce

The Islamic Chamber of Trade and Industry convened ministerial delegations and regional trade leaders in Douala to formally launch the new ethical commerce framework.

The Islamic Chamber of Trade and Industry (ICTI) convened ministerial delegations, trade leaders, and institutional partners in Douala today to formally inaugurate the Pan-African Ethical Trade Corridor. The landmark framework establishes streamlined customs protocols, transparent logistics financing, and standardized halal certification across participating Central and West African markets.

Under the new corridor protocols, verified member enterprises will benefit from accelerated bilateral trade clearances, reduced administrative bottlenecks, and direct access to Sharia-compliant trade settlement mechanisms designed to lower transactional volatility.

During the opening plenary, officials emphasized that intra-African trade expansion must be anchored in values of equity, mutual accountability, and transparent commercial governance. The corridor is projected to facilitate significant cross-border exchange over the upcoming fiscal cycle across agro-processing, light manufacturing, and renewable technology sectors.

Regional chambers from Cameroon, Nigeria, and Ghana reaffirmed their commitment to harmonizing local standards with the ICTI ethical charter, creating a predictable and unified operating climate for commercial enterprises and emerging entrepreneurs alike.
